Dining facility keeps it hot for defenders Published Dec. 4, 2014 By Senior Airman Krystal Ardrey 39th Air Base Wing Public Affairs INCIRLIK AIR BASE, Turkey -- The Sultan's Inn Dinning Facility began a hot meal delivery service for defenders from the 39th Security Forces Squadron, Dec. 2, here. The new service will allow security forces members who are unable to leave their post during meal times to have food delivered to them. Under the new option, security forces Airmen will be able to order two entrees, two sides, two drinks and a salad. This program will allow more Go for Green items to be eaten by security forces personnel and will aid in keeping them 'Fit to Fight'. Go for Green is a joint-service food labeling program giving dining facility patrons an indication of how healthy their food choices are. "This program will help Airmen eat healthier," said Senior Master Sgt. John Alsvig, 39th SFS first sergeant. "There are a lot more choices with this new program." The change comes after the defenders requested a change to the box meals they were receiving daily. Feedback given by the Airmen was the driving force behind this change. Under the old program defenders who were unable to go to the dining facility for lunch were given ready-made refrigerated meals of their choice. "This new program allows more meal choices and even provides a hot meal on cold nights for our Airmen who are on post," said Tech. Sgt. Aron Mueller, 39th Force Support Squadron NCO in charge of contingency lodging. "It is also important because it is what the Airmen wanted. It shows the positive results that Airmen can have when they come together and become one voice." The carry-out meal program is just one of many quality of life improvements the 39th Air Base Wing has been working on over the last few months. These improvements include improving the schedule, opening the alternate fire station to security forces to accomplish computer based training during duty hours and now providing hot meals to the defenders. "Hopefully this will demonstrate to our airmen that their leadership is committed to taking care of them," said Col. Craig Wills, 39th ABW commander. "Their supervisors are listening to their feedback and they are willing to take on the bureaucracy to do what is right for our Airmen." Currently, the program is only open to security forces members. If successful, the program will be available to other squadrons who have Airmen unable to leave work to go to the dining facility due to mission requirements. "It's good to see the direct impact our feedback has," said Airman 1st Class Crisdaniel Medina, 39th SFS security response team member. "It makes everyone happy."
