IAB JAG Airmen receive USAFE awards Published May 19, 2015 By Airman 1st Class Cory W. Bush 39th Air Base Wing Public Affairs INCIRLIK AIR BASE, Turkey -- The Judge Advocate General's Corps mission is "to deliver professional, candid, independent counsel and full spectrum legal capabilities to command and the warfighter". Incirlik Air Base's JAG office delivered that mission in 2014, garnering nearly half of the awards presented by U.S. Air Forces in Europe and Air Forces Africa for their legal practices. On May 2, 2015, three Airmen from the 39th Air Base Wing's Office of the Staff Judge Advocate were presented the following awards by USAFE for their hard work and contributions in the 2014: · Albert M. Kuhfeld Outstanding Young Judge Advocate of the Year Award was presented to Maj. Jeff Hawkins, 39th ABW deputy staff judge advocate. · Karen Yates-Popwell Outstanding Paralegal Senior NCO of the Year Award was presented to Master Sgt. Dean Lares, 39th ABW law office superintendent. · Steve Swigonski Outstanding Young Paralegal of the Year Award was presented to Tech. Sgt. Alexander Puma, 39th ABW NCO in charge of training and readiness. With the help of the three Airmen, the 39th ABW Legal Office received an "Excellent" rating in the Air Force-level Article Six Inspections, which were held during the Unit Compliance Inspection in November 2014. In 2014, Puma also received the 39th ABW 2013 Lance P. Sijan NCO of the Year Award, which he was selected for out of 25 other NCO's at Incirlik AB. The three Airmen will now compete at the Air Force-level and winners will be announced later on this year.
