INCIRLIK AIR BASE, Turkey -- The 39th Comptroller Squadron supplies financial support for the personnel, equipment and troop support agencies at Incirlik AB making the fight against ISIL in Operation Inherent Resolve possible.

The 39th CPTS develops, manages and oversees all base-level accounting, budgeting, military and travel pay, cashier operations as well as, directly supports OIR. The squadron provides financial oversight of all morale, welfare and recreation service activities.

"Our job is to get resources for warfighters," said Maj. Kelly Padden, 39th CPTS commander. "In addition, on the backend, we are advocating with both U.S. Air Force in Europe, Air Forces in Africa as well as Installation Mission Support Command in order to get the funds we need to execute the OIR mission. Our customer service Airmen are processing deployed entitlements, like imminent danger pay for instance, and answering any kind of payment questions deployed forces may have for us."

When financing a mission as large as OIR, long hours and increased operations are unavoidable, but the 39th CPTS met and continues to meet mission requirements; keeping the fight against ISIL funded.

"Operations tempo has done a total 180 since OIR started," said Staff Sgt. Jeremy Dame, 39th CPTS deputy dispersing officer. "It's like night and day here. This is a completely different location from before we started the new mission. Overall, there are definitely longer hours and a lot more work coming in."

The 39th CPTS manages big picture projects, along with providing financial assistance to service members. One big picture project accomplished was funding for the construction of Patriot Village, a temporary lodging facility for deployed forces.

"On the budget side we are working hard to fund the commander's priorities that will help support the surge of population here, such as the stand-up of Patriot Village," Padden said. "We spend a lot of money on Patriot Village, in the millions of dollars in order to give the troops deployed here a comfortable bed to sleep in, a hot meal at the Patriot Village dinning facility and the opportunity to work out at the gym."

The OIR mission, the support and operations side, would not be possible without professionals funding it. The 39th CPTS continues to be, 'larger than life' by ensuring the mission happens.

"Altogether we have spent around $29 million on OIR requirements in the last fiscal year, and of that $25 million was obligated in the last 30 days of the fiscal year," Padden said. "That is a mind blowing amount of money. To my Airmen's great credit they never complained. They understood how critical they are to the mission. Without finance Airmen nothing on this base gets purchased. Commanders don't get the requirements they need to fight a war without finance Airmen. I am very proud of my Airmen for their attitudes."
