Mission: Provide ready, adaptive support to NATO Allied Land Command Headquarters and all associated personnel; Administer the Çiğli Air Base agreement through robust Host Nation engagement and strategic prioritization.

About the 425th ABS

The 425th Air Base Squadron is a Geographically Separated Unit of the 39th Air Base Wing located at Incirlik Air Base, Türkiye.

Mission

The 425th ABS serves as the administrative agent and provides essential mission support to the NATO Allied Land Command Headquarters, along with five other associate units operating in Izmir and Istanbul, Türkiye. The squadron also manages the annual $1-million Çiğli Air Base Turnover Agreement between the United States and Türkiye. Finally, the 425th ABS is poised to support the 39th ABW’s mission.

Many squadron functions, including Civil Engineering, Safety, Traffic Management, Housing, and Vehicle Operations, are carried out by contractors.

The squadron performs all the duties typically handled at a wing level with essential integration across the 39 ABW, ensuring seamless support across all areas.

Security Forces and Anti-Terrorism teams provide resource protection and security for members and assets of the 425 ABS and NATO.

Postal Services

The Post Office operates Monday through Thursday from 0900 to 1600 and on Fridays from 0900 to 1330.

Housing

The Housing Office is open Monday through Friday from 0730 to 1630. All housing at Izmir is located off-base on the economy, and the office helps service members with housing searches, contracts, and loaner furniture.

Traffic Management Office (TMO)

TMO hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 0730 to 1630. They handle Personal Property Shipments (Household Goods, Unaccompanied Baggage), US and Turkish Customs, Passenger Travel, Vehicle Operations & Maintenance, and Cargo. They are available 24/7 for emergency situations only.

Commissary

While the Commissary is finishing renovations, families can still shop at the Commissary through Click2Go services with deliveries to military installations.

Services

Services offers local immersion tours, from shopping on the economy to enjoying and learning about Turkish culture. Services organizes and supports events together with host nation installations throughout the year, to include 5K runs and holiday meal specials.
 

Schools

There are no Department of Defense Education Activity schools in Izmir or Istanbul; however, with close integration with the Non-DoDEA Schools Programs, parents of school age dependents have several excellent international school options.

The 425 ABS Education and Testing Center is open Monday through Friday from 0800 to 1600. Services include CCAF counseling, voluntary education support (school and degree search), Military Tuition Assistance, and more.

Military & Family Readiness Center

CURRENTLY RE-HIRING THE WORK/LIFE CONSULTANT WHO LEADS THE MFRC

The Military & Family Readiness Center provides essential support services to active-duty personnel, Reservists, National Guard members, retirees, surviving spouses, their families, and DoD civilians. The center connects service members and families with resources and provides programs designed to strengthen mission readiness and community resilience.

Services include:

  • Workshops & Training: Offering a variety of personal and professional development opportunities.
  • Consultations: One-on-one sessions are available by appointment.
  • Relocation Assistance: Resources to help service members moving to the Izmir area.

Medical Information

Care at the Izmir MAS is provided by Air Force Independent Duty Medical Technicians (IDMTs). They are only authorized to see active-duty service members. If your condition is chronic in nature or beyond the scope of the IDMT, you will be referred to a downtown specialist. Both active-duty service members and dependents receive excellent standard of care through TRICARE-affiliated medical services on the economy.
