U.S. Air Force Airman 1st Class Troy Shakespeare, a defender assigned to the 39th Security Forces Squadron provides medical aid to U.S. Air Force Airman 1st Class Anthony Morfin, a defender assigned the 39th SFS during a joint training event at Incirlik Air Base, Turkey, Nov. 22, 2021. During the training evolution, UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter crews assigned to the U.S. Army’s 3rd Assault Helicopter Battalion, 1st Aviation Regiment, 1st Combat Aviation Brigade, 1st Infantry Division (Task Force Black Cat) teamed with 39th Air Base Wing Airmen to strengthen interagency collaboration in a variety of mission-specific simulated combat scenarios. Explosive ordnance disposal, medical and military working dog experts capitalized on TF Black Cat’s air transportation capabilities as they conducted operations to detect explosive devices, react to enemy contact, prepare wounded personnel for evacuation and provide follow-on care at fortified medical facilities. The event culminated TF Black Cat’s nine-month deployment to Incirlik AB and demonstrated the working relationships built between Army and Air Force agencies during that time. Over the last nine months, TF Black Cat has conducted numerous individual training events with the 39th Medical Group, the 39th Security Forces Squadron military working dog flight and the 39th Civil Engineer Squadron explosive ordnance disposal flight. Due to the Incirlik AB’s strategic location, the 39th ABW collaborates with mission partners like Task Force Black Cat to ensure the wing is always ready to respond to a wide variety of contingency requirements in defense of NATO’s southern flank.
