U.S. Army units transfer authority of PATRIOT responsibilities

U.S. Air Force Staff Sgt. Kerim Kodal, 48th Medical Surgical Operations Squadron diagnostic imaging technician, provides English to Turkish translation during a transfer of authority ceremony between the 3rd Battalion, 2nd Air Defense Artillery and the 5th Battalion, 7th Air Defense Artillery Dec. 13, 2013, at a Turkish army base in Gaziantep, Turkey. Kodal is deployed to Turkey from Lakenheath Air Force Base, England, in support of NATO’s commitment to Turkey to provide PATRIOT missile air defense capabilities as part of a mission to protect Turkey from Syrian ballistic missile threats.
