Master Sgt. Sonia Purcell, 39th Security Forces Squadron, Col. Eric Beene, 39th Air Base Wing commander and Senior Airman Queen-ella Scott, 39th SFS, gather for the signing of the Security Forces Week Proclamation Monday, May 3, 2010 at Incirlik Air Base, Turkey. In October 1962, President John F. Kennedy designated May 15 of each year as Peace Officers Memorial Day to honor the federal, state and municipal officers who die or are disabled in the line of duty. He also designated the week in which Peace Officers Memorial Day falls as Police Week. Police Week events begin May 10 and include a ruck march; paintball tournament for law enforcement; and a coloring, drawing and essay contest. More information will be presented on the Commanders Access Channel throughout the week. (U.S. Air Force photo/Senior Airman Alexandre Montes)
