Joint festival honors Turkish, American children
Children from the Incirlik Unit School perform at a Children's Day festival April 17, 2011, at Incirlik Air Base, Turkey. The event was hosted by the Turkish air force 10th Tanker Command and was open to all Incirlik personnel. The event offered an opportunity for camaraderie and partnership-building for all personnel here, and was a chance to celebrate both Turkish children on their national holiday and military children during the Month of the Military Child, officials said. Incirlik Baseball Opening Day
Opening day for little league baseball began with an exhibition game on April 16, 2011 here. Incirlik children played against their parents and the parents played with their less dominant hand. April is designated as the Month of the Military Child, underscoring the important role military children play in the armed forces community according to the U.S. Department of Defense website. The website also says the Month of the Military Child is an opportunity to recognize military children and youth for their heroism, character, courage, sacrifices and continued resilience.
