Indy 500 comes to Incirlik
Mario Andretti, legendary four time Indianapolis 500 race winner, waits as his crew secures demo ride winner Staff Sgt. Jayson Escalera from the 39th Logistics Readiness Squadron, Jan. 19, at Incirlik Air Base, Turkey. More than 30 individuals were chosen to ride in the Indy 500 racecar.. The Indy 500 Centennial Tour, coordinated by Morale Entertainment Foundation and Armed Forces Entertainment, in conjunction with the IZOD Indy Car Series and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, is a 10-day morale trip to Europe and the Middle East with the goal of boosting the morale of more than 10,000 servicemembers. The team, which includes Indianapolis 500 winners Mario Andretti, Johnny Rutherford and Al Unser Jr. plus Indy 500 veterans Sarah Fisher, Davey Hamilton, Larry Foyt and Firestone Indy Lights race winner Martin Plowman, spoke with the winners and signed autographs during the visit. Incirlik Airman returns to AF marathon
Senior Airman Berlin Aniciete, 39th Logistics Readiness Squadron, was selected to participate in the 2010 Air Force marathon scheduled to take place Sept. 18, 2010 at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio. This will be SrA Aniciete’s fourth time attending the event. Participants will run a 26.2-mile course along the historic sites on Wright-Patterson Air Force Base.
