Is the giant voice necessary all the time Published Dec. 6, 2006 By Anonymous 39th Air Base Wing INCIRLIK AIR BASE, Turkey -- Question: I was just wondering if it is really necessary for people to be on the Giant Voice as often as they are. It seems they have no respect for the people who have to work at night. Answer: It's all about timely communication and the fact that we run a 24/7/365 mission here at Incirlik. I can understand the inconvience this may cause to our shift community and can also assure you that it has nothing to do with a lack of respect for others. The giant voice system is used by both the 10th Tanker and 39th Air Base Wings to pass critical information to the base populace. The 39th Air Base Wing and 10th Tanker Command are required to conduct exercises periodically to keep our war-fighting skills sharp. During exercises the giant voice is used at a higher frequency for obvious reasons. The 10th Tanker Command is currently preparing for a Operational Readiness Inspection for the week of 23 Jan and the giant voice will play a vital role in the inspection. Thank you for providing us with the opportunity to directly inform you about this important upcoming inspection.
