Editor's note: This article is part of a series designed to provide in-depth information to both current and future members of Team Incirlik about topics specific to Incirlik and Turkey. The goal is to assist Airmen and families in making informed decisions about their move to the area and to provide guidance about local policies, procedures and quality of life matters.

Permanent changes of station are common for military members, and partnered with a PCS is a change of co-workers, friends, environment and residence.

Many people often conduct research on where they are going prior to moving. They try to find out how much space they'll have, what they may need to bring, and what they may be able to or have to live without.

Here at Incirlik Air Base, there is another factor families may want to consider when preparing for a PCS here - renovation! A large portion of Incirlik base housing is currently undergoing renovation that is scheduled to continue thru 2015.

Because of the renovation process, the following policies have been approved by 39th Air Base Wing commander:

- Enlisted and officer personnel may be housed in any housing areas during renovation.

- Renovated units will be assigned with no turn-down option. If no renovated units are available, two original units may be offered, inventory permitting, and one turndown will be authorized.

- If members are in a house scheduled for renovation, they may have to move. They will not be forced to move more than one time and are allowed thirty days from the time they are contacted by the housing office to complete the move. These members will receive partial dislocation allowance, and can choose to have their household goods moved thru the transportation management office by a local moving agency at government expense or perform a Do-It-Yourself move and be reimbursed.

- Members may be upgraded or downgraded to a house with more or less bedrooms than they are normally authorized based on the number of occupants.

Accompanied in-bound personnel to Incirlik AB who have questions should contact their sponsor or the housing office at DSN 676-6232 or go to the website www.housing.af.mil/incirlik.
