Strong winds blew through the Adana area at speeds of nearly 60 mph near the end of last month, knocking down various species of trees all over base. While there's no way to quickly replace the mature trees that were lost, base residents do have an opportunity to undo the damage from the storm and leave a legacy for the next generation.

It just so happens that Arbor Day is celebrated on or near the last Friday of April each year all over the United States, and even the world. Starting today, Incirlik AB residents can purchase young trees to plant during the base's Arbor Day celebration Saturday, April 26th at Arkadas Park beginning at 9 a.m.

There are three types of tree available for purchase - citrus, pine and Goldcrest conifer. The cost per tree will vary from four to 35 dollars, said Jennifer Fletcher, 39th Air Base Wing director of staff and base Arbor Day celebration planner.
