Three kinds of people

It has been said that there are three kinds of people in life ... those who watch things happen, those who wonder what happened, and those who make things happen. We celebrated with those who make things happen at our annual awards banquet Feb. 24. We had a capacity gathering of heroes cheering on other heroes from all categories ... Airmen, NCOs, SNCOs, CGOs, civilians, honor guard, shirt, and host nation employees.

The ball room was stacked, proud, and loud as we cheered our teammates on! Leading the charge was the 13th Chief Master Sgt. of the Air Force, Jim Finch.

I would not trade a minute of that evening for 10 minutes anywhere else. Since I arrived in July 2005, I have been awestruck by Team Incirlik and each and every member's contribution to the mission every day.

The synergy of our team is just so powerful that I believe there is nothing we cannot achieve. We are counting on this point over the next few months as we ramp up our preparations for our September inspection. It takes all of us at Team Incirlik to accomplish our vision, mission and goals. Together we make it happen.

Over the past year we have been recognized by 44 awards from the major-command level, two Air Force-level awards and one Department of Defense award. This is no small accomplishment, but no surprise with the outstanding people we have here. I'd like to thank every level of supervision for taking the time to prepare the packages and to set the stage for recognizing those who make things happen. I am proud to serve by your side and share in your achievements ... all hail the ones that make things happen!
