Staff of the United Service Organizations Incirlik opened the doors to their new facility here, Sept. 23.

USO Incirlik held a grand opening ceremony that featured a ribbon cutting and cookout for all in attendance.

“We are here to help servicemembers and give them a home away from home,” said Bernhard Lashleyleidner, Incirlik USO operations manager. “This new center that we opened up is going to do that. We are giving servicemembers the opportunity to come in, relax, play games, stream live sport events and video call their family and friends.”

The USO is open to all U.S. and coalition forces and offers personnel a space to hang out, meet new people and unwind. Lashleyleidner said he couldn’t ask for a better group of people to be around.

“My favorite part of working here is when I see the smiles on people’s faces,” said Lashleyleidner. “As you walk around and see people video calling with their family and friends, you see them eating and enjoying themselves; you can’t buy that. Seeing people happy means the world to me. I couldn’t ask for a better job or a better organization to work.”

Presently, USO Incirlik is servicing close to 350 individuals daily.

Senior Airman Nicholas Misseri, 39th Civil Engineer Squadron water and fuels systems maintainer, attended the grand opening and said USO Incirlik would increase morale for everyone.

“When I came in here and saw everything I thought it was great,” said Misseri. “They have new furniture here and everything is redone. The transformation is amazing.”

USO Incirlik is currently open Sunday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 10 to 1 a.m. Lashleyleidner says they’re working to have USO Incirlik open around the clock to accommodate servicemembers who work night shift.
