Members of the 39th Air Base Wing will undergo a change in unaccompanied tour length in a recent change approved by the Pentagon.

The new change will affect all Department of Defense members in Turkey coming in on or after 21 September 2016.

The Secretary of the Air Force Deborah Lee James said, “Military members who were already serving in Turkey prior to the date that the Acting Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness approved this action will continue to serve a 15 month tour. Only those members who proceed to Turkey on or after 30 September 2016, will serve a 12 month tour length."

For members already assigned prior to the 21 September date will continue their tour as normal but should expect to see the change soon for incoming personnel.

The 39th Force Support Squadron is also working with the Air Force Personnel Center to help ensure members arriving are under the new tour length.

“Members who arrive on or after 21 September will have orders verified and amended if required to show correct dependent restricted 12 month tour,” said Maj. Kenneth Raszinski, 39th FSS commander.
