INCIRLIK AIR BASE, Turkey --

Maj. William Smith took command of the 39th Security Forces Squadron during a change of command ceremony here, June 24.

Prior to taking command, Smith attended the Naval War College in Newport, R.I., where he completed an intermediate level program.

A change of command ceremony is a tradition that represents a formal transfer of authority and responsibility from the outgoing commander to the incoming commander.
