Week of Online Giving to help CFC recover after shutdown Published Oct. 21, 2013 39th Air Base Wing Public Affairs INCIRLIK AIR BASE, Turkey -- Every autumn for the past 52 years federal employees have been afforded the opportunity to support thousands of charitable organizations through the Combined Federal Campaign, sometimes donating combined totals of more than $250 million for the year. This year, however, the government shutdown and furloughs have critically impacted fundraising efforts. Thousands of nonprofits that depend on CFC funding are now in jeopardy of having to cut programs and services to those who need it most, including affected military families. The CFC has launched the Week of Online Giving, Oct. 21 through 25, to encourage federal employees to help bring the charity fundraising back on track now that the shutdown is over, and they have invited the CFC-O to participate. Members can take advantage of one of several ways to complete an online pledge by visiting http://cfcoverseas.org/cfc_o_giving_options. If members have already completed a pledge, they can consider spreading the message with colleagues and friends. Every pledge matters, and supporting this week will help bring critical support to charities after this time of legislative uncertainty.
