Incirlik partakes in climate survey Published Nov. 15, 2013 By Staff Sgt. Eric Summers Jr. 39th Air Base Wing Public Affairs INCIRLIK AIR BASE, Turkey -- Members of Team Incirlik have been given the opportunity to have their voices heard with a voluntary human relations climate assessment survey that will be available until Nov. 24. The Unit Climate Assessment provides participants with a forum to express their thoughts, opinions, and feelings about their organization and leadership. The survey, conducted by the Equal Opportunity office, will address morale; communication between unit members and their supervisors; attitudes and perceptions of assigned personnel of different ranks, races, ethnic backgrounds, and genders; and overall organizational health. "The purpose of the Unit Climate Assessment is to assist commanders at all levels in assessing their unit's human relations climate by providing insight into positive and negative factors that may impact unit effectiveness and the unit's human relations environment and to make recommendations for improvements," said Master Sgt. Kimberly Guler, 39th Air Base Wing Equal Opportunity office. Guler also said the survey is completely anonymous and that any demographic data gathered cannot be used to collectively identify participants. "This is your opportunity to provide candid feedback to your commanders without any fear of being identified or receiving any kind of retribution or reprisal," Guler stated. "It's your opportunity to tell your commander your opinion about what is good and bad regarding your work environment. If there is something wonderful your leadership is doing, tell them to reinforce the behavior, process, etc. If something is not good, give your opinion and provide your suggestions for improvement." Service members, Department of Defense civilian employees, non-appropriated fund employees, and local national employees are encouraged to take the survey. "Commanders are notified of the percentage of personnel assigned to their unit who have completed the survey," Guler continued. "Individual survey-takers are not and cannot be identified by unit leaders or EO personnel. The survey data is collected and compiled into a report by a contracted organization, not the EO office." "My hope is that our entire team will take advantage of this chance to share their thoughts," said Col. Craig Wills, 39th Air Base Wing commander. "What I don't want is for everyone to say everything is all good, because we all know that's simply not true. What I want, and what our wing needs, is blunt, honest feedback that will reveal where we can make improvements to our processes, services and leadership."
