In order to vote in the 2014 U.S. Primary Elections while here, you must do so via absentee ballot. The process isn't difficult, but there are steps you must accomplish.

Most states require you to complete an absentee ballot application to start the absentee voting process. We encourage the use of the Federal Post Card Application to start the absentee voting process as it is standardized across all states and will extend your eligibility to receive a ballot for all Federal elections for at least one calendar year.

By voting absentee, service members, their eligible family members and overseas citizens can ensure that they exercise their right to vote and have the tools and resources to successfully do so from anywhere in the world.

The FPCA is a simple application that allows eligible U.S. citizens to apply to register to vote and request an absentee ballot.

All it takes is two easy steps:

1. Register to vote and request an absentee ballot by submitting the FPCA - go to http://www.fvap.gov/citizen-voter/registration-ballots or ask your unit representative.

2. Send your request to your state election office - state addresses can be found at fvap.gov.

3. Receive your absentee ballot and cast your vote!

While it is recommended to register to vote and request an absentee ballot in January of each year, or at least 90 days before Election Day, it's not too late. The dates for your states' elections can be found at fvap.gov or by speaking to your voting representative. If you requested an absentee ballot from your state, but still have not received it, you can still vote by using the back-up Federal Write-In Absentee Ballot, which can be found on the fvap.gov site.
