Eric Summers Jr. 39th Air Base Wing Public Affairs Office INCIRLIK AIR BASE, Turkey -- Heavy rain and strong winds blew through Incirlik AB and caused minor damage to several structures March 29 and 30. "Saturday night heavy rain and hail up to three-fourths an inch were produced and the estimated rain amount is between 0.30-0.35 inches," said Staff Sgt. Tyreese Clark 39th Operation Squadron NCO in charge of mission integration function. "Sunday, the winds were at 28mph with gusts up 40mph. During the strongest part of the wind event, winds became 40mph with the highest gust reaching 57mph." Terry Sparks, 39th Civil Engineer Squadron and Vinnell-Brown and Root deputy chief of operations, said that the unit's immediate concern was the safety of the community. "Eight craftsmen from the 39th CES pavements and equipment section were called in early Sunday morning to remove fallen trees and tree branches that were a direct safety hazard to the base populace," Sparks continued. "Additionally, we had an on-duty electrical lineman and DIN mechanic roving the base to assess any structural damage to key utilities." The next day the 39th CES began making structural repairs and finished collecting debris around the base. "As of today, our structures craftsmen are working roof repairs on three buildings that sustained damage from the high winds," said Sparks. "The majority of the calls to the CE Service Call Desk were for fallen branches, uprooted trees and storm debris. There were a handful of facilities which sustained minor roof damage. "
