AFOSI Accepting Applications: Staff Sergeants Encouraged to Apply

INCIRLIK AIR BASE, Turkey -- The Air Force Office of Special Investigations is accepting applications from staff sergeants interested in Special Agent Duty. Select, highly qualified senior airmen and technical sergeants may also apply.

If are selected for this competitive program, members will attend rigorous training at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Glynco, Ga., alongside trainees who enter the Secret Service, Navy Criminal Investigative Service, Homeland Security, and other federal agencies. Selectees will learn skills in firearms, high-speed pursuits, arrest tactics, crime scene processing, and interrogations. Upon graduation, members will receive a badge and credentials, certifying their status as a Special Agent.

At their first duty station, members will run investigations into terrorism, espionage, high-value fraud, and felony-level crimes. At times, members will also run protective service operations for high-ranking dignitaries. For a select few, there are opportunities to specialize in polygraph examinations, technical services, cyber investigations, counterespionage, and forensic sciences. Special agents must find facts that no one else can, using skills no one else has, in order to prosecute criminals, catch spies, and prevent terrorist attacks. It's an exciting career like no other.

To qualify, applicants must provide the following:
1) A passing fitness assessment
2) Strong enlisted performance report record,
3) 10 months remaining before a permanent change of station
4) At least six months remaining on current enlistment
5) Staff sergeants and technical sergeants must have no more than 10 years total active federal military service
6) Senior airmen must have no more than six years TAFMS
7) Completed Airmen Leadership School.

(Note for First-term Airmen: must have completed at least one duty day in the 35th month of current enlistment, or 59th month for 6-year enlistees, and apply no later than the last duty day of the 43d month of their current enlistment, or 67th month for 6-year enlistees.)
