Wing to conduct challenge coin contest Published July 23, 2014 By Capt. David Liapis 39th Air Base Wing Public Affairs INCIRLIK AIR BASE, Turkey -- We've all got 'em, but where are they? Wallet? Pocket? Purse? Desk? Stuffed in some drawer and collecting dust? Regardless of where we keep our challenge coins, or Round Metal Objects as some term them, what really matters are the stories behind them. We're not talking about the disputed history of RMOs or their evolution as tokens of gratitude and association. We're talking about the individual stories behind our favorite coins. We're talking about how a person's career path can often be determined just by studying the coins sitting on a rack or display case in their office or home. So, what's your story? The 39th Air Base Wing is conducting a contest open to all current members of Team Incirlik (military and civilian) to see who has the best tale to tell about their favorite coin. It can be sentimental, comical, dramatic, a tale of woe or of monumental achievement, or all or none of the above. The only rule that goes without saying is that the stories be appropriate for all audiences. Are you interested in sharing? All you have to do is post a photo of your challenge coin along with the story behind it on the 39th Air Base Wing Facebook page. The 39th ABW Public Affairs staff will put them in an album, and then it's up to the fans. The post with the most "likes" on the morning of Sept .1 will be the winner, so don't wait too long to post. When you do, share it with your friends and family to boost your numbers! The contest winner will receive another RMO ... from the wing commander! The contest begins Aug. 1 and ends Aug. 31, so be thinking now about which coin you'll pick.
