Four Incirlik Unit School students ranging from ages 6 to 17 entered an original written piece for a Veterans Day essay contest Nov. 10, here.

Veterans were the common theme for the essays, and also what Veterans Day meant to them. Each took the stage and recited their original works for the crowd.

Before and after the event, attendees enjoyed 39th Air Base Wing history display tables set up around the ballroom from the 39th Security Forces Squadron, 39th Operation Support Squadron and other units.

"The display tables and essay contest were meant to highlight our veterans and family members here at Incirlik Air Base," said Staff Sgt. Pablo Velez, Incirlik 5/6 club vice president.  "We were able to recognize four great authors that also serve alongside their veteran parents."
