From saving $1.2 million dollars per year in tanker aircraft inspections to orchestrating control over the largest U.S. and multinational military operational exercise in the Pacific, one captain's accomplishments are the reasons she stands out amongst the rest.

On April 9, 2015, Capt. Claire Vazquez, the 39th Maintenance Squadron munitions flight commander, was notified by her commander, that she will represent the U.S. Air Forces in Europe and Air Forces Africa as a 2014 Katharine Wright Trophy nominee, for her service as a Pacific Air Command Air Forces' leader.

The KWT, which is presented annually to a woman who has contributed to the success of others, or made a personal contribution to the advancement of the art, sport and science of aviation and space flight over an extended period of time, was established in 1981 by Gates Learjet Corporation.

In the coming month, Vasquez will advance and compete for the KWT at the Air Force-level.
