Question:
Why were library privileges for retirees not reinstated?

Response: Thank you for bringing this to our attention. Unfortunately, retirees are only allowed to access the base for medical reasons, per direction of the Turkish base commander. We understand the recent change in base access has affected a lot of recreational activities that were once available to retirees and apologize for an inconvenience this has caused. Although the physical library on base is no longer available, the Air Force has a virtual library available to AF employees and retirees at www.usafelibraries.org. Through the multiple e-book platforms, there are thousands of fiction, non-fiction and audio books available. The Zenio service also offers over 650 magazines. All platforms can be accessed through your computer or a tablet device app and once set up, many allow you to access without going through the library web site. To get started, simply log on to www.usafelibraries.org with your library card.  There are step-by-step directions available under the "E-library" tab.  If you don't have a library card, click on the "Get a Library Card" quick link on the right side of the page, then under "Get a library card if I am at a GSU/remote/deployed location?" click on the registration form hyperlink. Fill out the form and in block 17, state "I do not have access to the base library and want to use online digital resources."  As an alternative, Air Force eLibrary services are also available on www.myairforcelife.com.
