Due to the partnership and hard work of the 10th Tanker Base Command and 39th Air Base Wing, the new state-of-the-art Base Community Center is scheduled to open in the near future.

As of July 24, 2015, the process to open the facility is officially complete, in large part due to the efforts and leadership of Brig. Gen. Bekir Ercan Van, 10th TBC commander.

"I'm excited to announce that in the near future our Airmen will have access to the new community center," said Col. Craig Wills, 39th ABW commander. "It's been a long process, but without the dedication from the community center project officers and leaders, this wouldn't be possible. I owe a special thanks to Brig. Gen. Van. He and his team invested many hours of overtime to expedite the opening of the facility. This is a perfect example of the partnership we have with the 10th Tanker Base Command. Gen. Van and I are thrilled to open the facility to the Turkish and U.S. community very soon."

Completed in April 2015, the community center, which cost roughly $9.23 million and created approximately 145 Turkish jobs over a two year period, had been on hold due to the finalization of its paperwork.

A soft opening event for the new community center is scheduled for July 29, but full access to the facility may take up to 30 days to allow adequate time for facilities to transfer into the new building.

The new center will have the same services and amenities the old center, along with a new 350-seat capacity theater with a digital movie theater system, the base education office with two colleges and the base library. In addition, the facility will be equipped with free wireless internet that will be available to patrons.
