Caleb Pierce 39th Air Base Wing Public Affairs INCIRLIK AIR BASE, Turkey -- The new Incirlik Air Base Community Center opened during a soft opening ceremony July 29, here. The 39th Air Base Wing and the 10th Tanker Base Command welcomed all U.S. and Turkish personnel to the event, which opened with remarks from Brig. Gen. Bekir Ercan Van, 10th Tanker Base Command commander and Col Craig Wills, 39th ABW commander and Brig. Gen. Bekir Ercan Van, a ribbon cutting and a free movie. The community center, which cost roughly $9.23 million, completed construction in April 2015 and its opening has been much anticipated by the base populace. Although a soft opening was held to commemorate and introduce the center to the base community, full access to the facility may take up to 30 days to allow adequate time for services to transfer into the new building. The new center will have the same services and amenities the old center, along with a new 350-seat capacity theater with a digital movie theater system, the base education office with two colleges and the base library.
