Although the verbal way for asking someone to administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation is different in Spanish, Turkish, and American languages, the techniques for conducting the procedure are the same throughout the respective medical fields.

On August 5, the 39th Medical Group held a Basic Life Support Course for Healthcare Providers training for health professionals from different countries and medical backgrounds. In particular, four health care staff members from the Spanish Patriot Unit deployed to Adana, Turkey attended the training, as well as medical staff members from the 39th MDG, Turkish Jandarma medical unit and MedLine Adana Hastahesi.

A theoretical and practical course, the BLS Course for Healthcare Providers trains medical personnel on performing qualified first-aid for heart attacks in adults and children, by using techniques in order to restore spontaneous breathing and circulation. During the training, coordinated by Staff Sgt. Valeria Garza, 39th MDG education and training flight noncommissioned officer in charge, the participants conducted hands-on training on adult and child training manikins, learned to operate a semi-automatic defibrillator and respond to cases of complete blockage of respiratory track.

The joint training was a great opportunity for medical professionals from diverse backgrounds and cultures to come together to not only meet their medical training requirements, but to enhance and share their knowledge through practice and working together.
