Incirlik AB honor Ataturk with joint ceremony

The 10th Tanker Base Command, with participation from U.S. Airmen from the 39th Air Base Wing, held a memorial ceremony in honor of Mustafa Kemal Ataurk, Nov. 10, 2015, here.

Ataturk was the founder and first president of the modern Republic of Turkey, and is commonly refered to as 'The Father of Turkey.' In the short span of his life, he achieved the rebirth of a nation.

The day marked the 77th anniversary of his death at the age of 57 Nov. 10, 1938.

The ceremony began by laying wreaths at a monument of Ataturk. It continued with a moment of silence, the playing of the national anthem, a word from base leadership and a speech about Ataturk's life.

The cermony closed with honors rendered to Ataturk's monument.

Today he lives on in the minds and hearts of Turkish people. He represents a brave history, the future and pride of Turkey.
