Incirlik Air Base's Health Promotions, formerly the Health and Wellness Center, is presenting a health series, "Better Body Better Life" beginning Feb. 23, in an effort to promote overall better health for Airmen here.

"Better Body Better Life" is an interactive and hands on five-part series with practical information about nutrition, fitness and behavioral issues to promote healthy living.

Classes are scheduled Tuesdays from 12 - 1 p.m. or Wednesdays from 4 - 5 p.m. in building 3850, across from the shoppette.

"This course will encourage people to be more mindful of what they eat, for example portion size, food choices and more nutritious alternatives," said Emily Arthur, 39th Medical Operations Group health promotion program coordinator. "In addition, this course will help with behavioral changes necessary to support a healthy living such as stress, sleep and dealing with slip ups. Finally, this class will introduce the basics of physical activity to support one's health."

The series focuses on improving overall health for individuals by managing their behavior and offering them better alternatives to negative habits.

"I think this is a good series for Titans to attend because when people follow these healthy living habits they feel better," said Arthur. "When people lose excess weight, not only are they physically healthier, a lot of time, they become emotionally healthier as well. They feel like they are in control again, they see themselves in a more positive light and they have increased confidence.  All of these things can affect how they interact with people and their job productivity."

The series is available to all active duty, spouses, civilians and contractors who seek to improve their health. The "Better Body Better Life" series helps participants realize their full potential.

"I would like for individuals to realize health is a process and a journey, not a destination," said Arthur. "It is something we constantly have to work at, but all the benefits, immediate and long term, make it worth it. If people really commit and make the change to set up healthy habits and set up their environment for success they can and will succeed."
