U.S. Airmen assigned to the 39th Operations Support Squadron hosted and participated in a 9/11 Memorial Tower Climb at Incirlik Air Base, Türkiye, Sept. 11, 2026.

Commemorating 25 years since the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, the 39th Air Base Wing joined the Department of the Air Force and service members worldwide in honoring the 2,977 lives lost. This includes honoring victims within the Department of War, specifically the Pentagon employees, service members, and American Airlines Flight 77 passengers, as well as the selfless first responders who ran toward danger at the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and Shanksville, Pennsylvania.

In addition to paying tribute to the fallen, the memorial climb serves to educate younger generations born since 2001 on the enduring fortitude, resilience and unity of the American people. The event also remembers the sacrifices of veterans and Gold Star families who supported operations throughout the U.S. Central Command area of responsibility.

25 years later, Airmen at the 39 ABW remain resolved to deter aggression, project power and stay ready alongside Allies and partners.
