Bolfing 39th Air Base Wing Public Affairs INCIRLIK AIR BASE, Türkiye -- The Spanish Patriot Unit conducted an change of command ceremony at Incirlik Air Base, Türkiye, June 18, 2026. During the ceremony, Lt. Col. Leonardo Toledo Mira formally assumed command of the unit from Lt. Col. Luis Millan Burgos Sanchez, symbolizing the continuation of its mission in support of NATO operations and regional security. U.S. Air Force Col. Mike Esposito, 39th Air Base Wing commander, and Chief Master Sgt. David Izaguirre, 39th Security Forces Squadron senior enlisted leader, attended the ceremony alongside U.S., Spanish and Allied service members to recognize the leadership transition and reaffirm the partnership between NATO allies operating at Incirlik AB. The ceremony featured military customs and traditions, including the presentation of unit colors, ceremonial honors and a memorial tribute recognizing the service and sacrifice of those who have supported the unit's mission. Spanish service members work alongside 39th ABW Airmen and allied partners to strengthen interoperability, enhance operational readiness and support shared security objectives.
