Incirlik welcomes five new majors to the team

INCIRLIK AIR BASE, Turkey --  Five members of team Incirlik got the news Dec. 20 that they will be trading in their captain bars for major leaves. The new O-4s were selected along with 2,513 of their fellow Airmen across the Air Force.

"I feel very elated to make it to the rank of major," said Capt. Artemus Armas, 39th Medical Group officer in charge of medical services. "I was very surprised when I found out; I hope making rank will just give me a chance to help others while doing the job I love."

Capt. Michael Freeman, 39th Civil Engineer Squadron
Capt. Robert C. McCaslin, 39th Communications Squadron
Capt. Aaron Scheer, 728th Air Mobility Squadron
Capt. Connie L. Winik, 435th Medical Operations Squadron

Selection statistics in-the-promotion zone for major:

Line: 2,204 selected from 2,363 considered for a 93.3 percent select rate.
Chaplain: 21 selected from 28 considered for a 75 percent select rate.
Biomedical sciences corps central selection: 106 selected from 120 considered for an 88.3 percent select rate.
Nurse corps: 135 selected from 180 considered for a 75 percent select rate.

Selection statistics above-the-promotion zone for major:

Line: 41 selected from 462 considered for an 8.9 percent select rate.
Chaplain: None selected from 8 considered for a 0 percent select rate.
BSC: Two selected from 15 considered for a 13.3 percent select rate.
NC: Nine selected from 97 considered for a 9.3 percent select rate.
