The military way of life takes some getting used to especially for spouses and dependents who have never lived on or around military installations.

Heartlink is a program run by the Airman and Family Readiness Center that helps spouses and dependents ease into the military way of life. Heartlink provides a day-long seminar beginning with an introduction to the Air Force family.

Many different organizations come in to do a one-stop shop synopsis of what they can offer spouses and families. Col. "Tip" Stinnette, 39th Air Base Wing commander, stopped in to lend spouses a few words of advice.

"I have everybody here going at 400 knots but, sometimes you need to apply a speed break to slow things down. That speed break may be your spouse, kids, dog, or anything that's going to take your mind away for a bit and let you see what's going on around you. Incirlik's a great place to be," he said.

Incirlik is only the second home to U.K. native, Katy Naro, who has never been outside the U.K. making her experiences here quite enlightening.

"Everybody here wants to see you get on well and that's what Heartlink's all about. It's about making the most of this life," she said.

The Heartlink seminar concluded with Colonel Stinnette handing out coins to all of the spouses. Smiling faces left armed with the knowledge to make the most of their new military lives.
