After weeks of rigorous practice, Incirlik has named a winner to the much anticipated Incirlik Idol sing off.

Staff Sgt. Jeff Nevison, a still photographer with the 39th Communications Squadron, was named the winner of the competition March 16, at the Consolidated Club. He will go on to face the best-of-the-best at the U.S. Air Forces in Europe competition April 14, at Ramstein Air Base, Germany.

"It is a pleasure that is very much new to me," Sergeant Nevison said of winning. "I am honored and yet humbled to get this opportunity and will do my best to make Incirlik look its best."

The Pennsylvania native said he sang "Open Arms" by Journey for the competition and then sang "I'll Be" by Edwin McCain for his encore.

"I sang these songs to show my range of capabilities," he said.

Sergeant Nevison, who has been dabbling in karaoke for about eight years, said he enjoys singing in front of people.

"I get satisfaction out of people having a good time," he said. "To me, there is nothing better or more self gratifying than to be a direct part of people smiling and laughing and knowing it's at least partly because of you."
