A rose planting ceremony honoring the memory of Selahattin Ulkumen, Turkish consul-general, on the Island of Rhodes will be held on April 20 at 10 a.m. at Arkadas Park. Mr. Ulkumen is recognized as a Righteous Gentile for his heroism rescuing 50 Jews from the Nazis.

Col. "Tip" Stinnette, 39th Air Base Wing commander will host the event. The ceremony will include a narrative on Mr. Ulkumen's efforts read by Capt. After the reading, the rose bush will be planted and Colonel Stinnette will dedicate a plaque commemorating the event.
