Do you sometimes feel like you are the only good driver on the road? Maybe other drivers are thinking the same thing. One thing is for sure, nobody is 100 percent safe all the time when driving. Therefore, there are three new driving courses offered to Incirlik personnel: Course IIIA, intermediate traffic safety, Course IIIB, advanced traffic safety, and Course V, driver improvement program.

Course IIIA will be conducted for assigned military personnel within 60 days of arrival at their first duty station. Course IIIB will be completed during the member's sixth and 10 month from the date they arrived on station. Course V is mandatory for military personnel who are between 18 and 21. The course is also available for DoD civilians and nonappropriated fund employees or personnel which the commander has directed to improve driving habits and knowledge.

The courses are designed to address driving in Turkey. Course IIIA and Course IIIB will be aimed at addressing driving habits, statistics, and situational awareness. Course V will be aimed at local challenges, trends, and hazards; the student's needs determine the appropriate modules.

All of the courses will last approximately one and a half hours. Course IIIA will be held at the First Term Airman's Center, building 326, and courses IIIB and V's locations are to be determined depending on the number of students signed up and on where there is space available. Course IIIA will be scheduled by FTAC, and Courses IIIB and V need to be scheduled by the member's supervisor. Members only need to bring paper and pen for notes, and be ready to learn. "The overall goal of Incirlik's driver safety effort is to ensure the safety and well being of all personnel by making sure they know how to safely operate motor vehicles," said Master Sgt. Darnell Edmonds, 39th Air Base Wing, ground safety manager.
