Comptroller Squadron adjusts check cashing limits, hours Published June 12, 2007 By Maj. Tabetha Clark 39th Comptroller Squadron commander INCIRLIK AIR BASE, Turkey -- As the new 39th Comptroller Squadron commander, one of my first "charges" was to take a hard look at the current check cashing limit and hours to determine how we could better serve the base populace. After conducting extensive analysis of current check cashing operations, we determined we could increase the check cashing limit from $1,500 to $2,500 per family/per week without a high-level of risk. We also understand that many of our Department of Defense teachers live on the economy and require large sums of cash to pay their rent. Therefore, we will continue to accommodate their needs. Additionally, anyone cashing a personal check for more $2,500 must gain approval from the Air Base Wing commander or ABW vice commander and submit a request no later than 2 p.m. one day prior. Similarly, bank, insurance and Treasury checks may be cashed in any amount. However, if the amount is greater than $2,500, a request must be submitted one day prior to cashing the check. The analysis also showed that the majority of patrons cashed checks in the amount of $300 or less. Therefore, we encourage those patrons to also utilize the additional check cashing facilities like the, Base Exchange, Club Complex and the Automated Teller Machines located on the base. In addition to increasing the check cashing limit, we have adjusted our hours to better accommodate Team Incirlik, particularly shift-workers getting off work and employees requiring check cashing services prior to reporting to work. Effective June 11 07, the new hours for check cashing are: M-F 7:30 - 9 a.m. Personal Check Cashing M-F 9 - 10:30 a.m. Vendors/Collections ONLY M-W-F 12:00 - 3:30 p.m. Personal Check Cashing Note: When a holiday falls on Monday the Cashier window will open Thursday from 12:00 p.m.-3:30 p.m. The 39th CPTS Team looks forward to continuing to find better ways to serve the Incirlik community.
