As the base community gathered to celebrate the July 4 Freedom Festival at Arkadas Park, one Team Incirlik member was treated to more than the great eats, musical entertainment and fireworks.

Tech. Sgt. Samantha Dunn, 39th Medical Support Squadron Noncommissioned Officer in Charge of Medical War Reserve Material, was in shock after being invited on stage and presented with the U.S. Air Forces in Europe Extreme Summer prize for June - a six-day Edelweiss vacation package.

"I never win anything so I was stoked to hear about the trip," she said. "I plan to bring my husband and we've already called and scheduled for October."

Sergeant Dunn's win will allow her and three friends or family members to spend six days and five nights at Edelweiss, with free transportation to and from Munich Airport. While on vacation, they will have the opportunity to tour castles, climb the Alps, play golf, go hiking and experience the many sights Germany has to offer.

"Once each month - June, July and August - there is a drawing in which Extreme Summer participants can win great prizes such as the one Sergeant Dunn just received," said Vicki Haskins, 39th Services Squadron Family Member Programs flight chief. "There are also daily opportunities to win."

Throughout the summer, random drawings will take place for all participants with 300 Services points or more, with one winner drawn per category. The categories include:

- Youth age eight to 12
- Teens age 13 to 18
- Airman to staff sergeant and spouses
- Technical sergeant and above, all officers, civilians and spouses.

All prize winners are selected amongst USAFE participants and drawn randomly. The chance of winning improves as you earn game pieces from Services facilities for participating in a variety of Services-offered programs.

"Sergeant Dunn was very surprised when she was presented her over-sized win," said Ms. Haskins. "It was a perfect setting in the park ... the look on her face was priceless."

Getting your name added to the drawing is the first step to increasing your chance of winning Extreme Summer prizes in 2007.

"All I had to do is register online and earn a minimum of 300 points per month," Sergeant Dunn said. "This free trip means we can still afford to go home for Christmas."
