Looking for a quiet place to relax or somewhere to get volunteer hours ... look no further, the Incirlik Library offers many activities and programs.

"The Children's Story Hour is all year long; it includes snacks, crafts, and two books being read to the children," said Stacey Storer, Library technician.

Story Hour is every Friday from 10:30 to 11 a.m. and targets the youngest youth group on base.

"Story Hour is for the children who are not yet able to read; either the parents or nannies bring their children on Fridays," said Ms. Storer.

For the children who can read on their own or who need mild assistance with reading, Incirlik offers the Summer Reading Program.

"Parents can come in and sign their children up anytime or they can just show up on Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m.," said Ms. Storer.

This program involves games, activities, prizes and stories. When children are signed up they will receive a packet with crossword puzzles and questions about the stories they will be reading. These packets help the children learn how to use the library.

There are different themes for the Summer Reading Program; the current theme focuses on mysteries.

For older readers the library offers the Book Club in a Box. Visit www.usafelibraries.org to see which books are available.

"Once you pick the book you want to focus on, fill out a request form and we will order a box for you," said Ms. Storer. "The box includes 10 copies of your book, tips on running a club and some discussion questions to help get you started."

Book Club sessions can be held at the Library for no cost.

A great way for people to gain volunteer hours and to help the Library is the Adopt-A-Shelf program.

"The Library is in need of more people to sign up for this program. At the Library there is a binder with a list of all the sections available," said Ms. Storer. "Just sign up for a section and come by about 30 minutes every two weeks to keep your section looking great."

A few other things the Library offers are the College Level Examination Program and Defense Activity for Non-Traditional Education Support practice tests and study guides, Internet access, and the Rosetta Stone program.

"Online we offer over 55 databases; Tumble Books for children, and a young adult area which supplies college information, grants and other information that is essential to our graduates. Just visit http://usafelibraries.org," said Carol Arvin, Library director.
