It is that time of year again. The 2007-2008 school year starts Aug. 27 and Incirlik held a town hall meeting Aug. 21 to address the year ahead.

"We are all eager for this school year to start," said Col. Jeffery Hanson, 39th Mission Support Group Commander.

Colonel Hanson then went on to introduce the new Incirlik American School Principal, Mr. Raynard Eddings. "We as educators are focused on learning," When I say learning I mean doing. I think our students learn best when they are 'doing' things."

After his introduction, Mr. Eddings went on to explain why he feels he will be a great asset to Incirlik.

"I think a critical perspective I bring to the table is not only being an assistant principal for seven years, but being a parent for 14 years," he said. "I will have a child in the elementary, middle and high school. I am sure we will have plenty of conversations about school over dinner."

Mr. Eddings told the audience that he will always be available to talk to if they have a concern or complaint, however working with the teacher first is normally the best solution.

"Please make sure you interact with the teachers," he said. "A lot of the times the best results can be worked through the teacher."

Col. Phillip McDaniel, 39th Air Base Wing Commander, closed the meeting speaking about how everyone must work together to make it a successful year.

"I am committed to making this the best school year we can," Colonel McDaniel said. "We can't do it alone, it takes all of us to work together and make it happen. If you have friends that aren't here, pass the word that we need their help too."
