Services print shop Published Sept. 27, 2007 By Airman 1st Class Timothy Taylor 39th Air Base Wing Public Affairs INCIRLIK AIR BASE, Turkey -- Recently the Air Force has used Air Force Smart Operations 21 initiatives to make processes more efficient and trim the response time to their customers. These new processes have affected some Air Force specialty codes; one of these AFSCs is graphics. Because graphics and visual information is merging into the public affairs career field, Incirlik will need another means to produce posters, invitations, programs, brochures and flyers. Luckily for Team Incirlik, the 39th Services Squadron marketing department has a print shop, located on the second floor of Building 975 next to the official document center, ready to fulfill the graphic needs of the base. "With the exception of printing retirement certificates and glossy photo prints, we offer every service graphics use too," said Jodi Whitener, 39th Services Squadron marketing assistant. While many of the services will be the same, customers will notice some major differences. First, the print shop is a pay as you go service when designing custom graphics the print shop charges $20 per hour. Also, they do not provide Video Teleconference support. "If we can't fulfill an order or if the order is simply too large for our shop to handle, we have several references and contacts in Adana that should be able to help our customers," said Mrs. Whitener. The print shop is a small, three-person shop with limited supplies, so if an order exceeds the supply limitation the requestor may need to seek services off base in Adana. "The print shops priorities are 39th Services Squadron based products and projects," said Jude Sorg, 39th SVS Depute. "As a result your project may be postponed until other projects are completed." The standard time for product completion is three weeks but if the project is small, pre designed or is a high priority, the waiting period may be shorter. Occasionally a customer may provide a pre designed project, but may still have to wait the three-week period for their product to be finished. "Eventually we would like to set up a few offline computers with adobe Photoshop where customers can sit and design their own products," said Mrs. Whitener. "When customers complete their project we may be able to print their project sooner than if we were to design and print it by ourselves. Of course services will still be there to assist with questions and tips but the computers will allow customers to get exactly what they want and still allow us to complete our projects already in the works."
