Action Line - 070921 Concerns about safety issues with parking near track

INCIRLIK AIR BASE, Turkey --  Question: For more than a year there have been "No Parking" signs by the Incirlik American School track.

I would like to know why are people so lazy that they have to park on the road and not in the parking lot 100 yards away?

It makes it very congested and takes a two-lane road and makes it one. It is not very safe for pedestrians or bicyclists.

Response: Thanks for your concern regarding the safety of Team Incirlik members; we should never assume that someone else sees the same problems we see.

I have passed your concern on to our Security Forces Squadron with instructions to strictly enforce all posted traffic signs. We'll keep a close watch on this stretch of road, especially since school is now in session, and would encourage you to also inform people of the safety hazard when you see them.
