Team Incirlik now has access to eight cable channels recently added to the 11 Armed Forces Network channels already available.

The channels have been made available at no cost to base residents, thanks to the efforts of Reuben Brenner, 39th Communications Squadron cable TV/antenna maintenance supervisor.

"We recently completed efforts to put up a few more channels," said Mr. Brenner. "However, we needed to find channels that would be appropriate for the community and add to the entertainment options already available."

Mr. Brenner has been working with local national Muslum Ucar, CATV/antenna maintenance technician, on getting new channels added to Incirlik's line-up for the past three years.

As of May 19 base residents are able to receive the North American Sports Network, Turner Network Television, Cartoon Network, E2, the Fashion Channel, the Consumer News and Business Channel Europe, the Cable News Network International and Euronews. The new programming has a wide range of content including sports, news, fashion, and American, Turkish and Spanish entertainment.

"I have heard many Airmen say they were excited about having eight new channels to choose from," said Senior Airman Linda Wald, 728th Air Mobility Squadron. "We appreciate that the base leadership took interest in improving the morale of all members here at Incirlik."

The amount of money the wing spent on parts to receive these channels was minimal, said Mr. Brenner. All new channels are free to air, which means neither the wing nor Airmen have to pay to receive them. Incirlik Air Base will continue to broadcast these channels as long as they remain free to air, which means if the satellite company encrypts the channel or charges for their use, they will be removed.

Any base resident currently receiving AFN is able to receive the new cable networks by auto-tuning their televisions or manually tuning them in accordance with the instructions in their operator's manual.
