Complaint:

Although I enjoy our BX food court (i.e. Burger King, Pizza Hut and Taco Bell); I, like many others on base that can't eat freely at the Dining Facility, have a hard time trying to figure a healthy meal for lunch. Unless I go home every day or eat at the Dining Facility the other options are limited if I am looking for something healthy. Is there any talk about acquiring a Subway on base? Yokota ABS Japan, before I PSC'd, had acquired one in the BX and it was great to have a healthy sandwich as an option instead of the calories and excess grease.

Response:

Thanks for raising this question and, while there currently is no plan to bring Subway here, it is something that will be considered. You should know that we continually evaluate our concessionaires and solicit bids for alternates, with an eye to healthy cuisine.
Meanwhile, there are healthy food choices at the BX food court. Limited choices, I agree, but nonetheless available. For example, the Side Garden Salad at BK is only 15 calories. The Beef Taco at Taco Bell is 170, and the Pizza Hut Veggie is 270. I would also recommend the commissary, they have very good sandwiches and at a very reasonable price. Keep thinking healthy!
