Action Line #80502 - Speeding in housing Published June 12, 2008 By Anonymous 39th Air Base Wing Public Affairs INCIRLIK AIR BASE, Turkey -- Complaint: I would like to voice my concern regarding speeding in family housing. While speeding on base is bad enough I happen to live back near the Water Treatment Facility and everyday between 1700-1830 the big blue buses and the red and white ones that transport Turkish Nationals to and from work go racing by. I'm not talking maybe 25 Kmh, closer to at least 35-40 Kmh. It's getting to the point that I'm worried not only for my own children but for all that surround us. Last night alone 8 of those busses sped past not to mention multiple small blue vans. Is there any way we can enforce the speed limits, especially throughout those time periods. With summer coming upon us there will be more families out and about and this is a recipe for disaster. Thank you Response: Thank you for keeping a watchful eye on the community and please know that I take this issue very seriously. In fact, to help mitigate this problem I'm coordinating with the 10th Tanker commander to install additional speed bumps near the water treatment facility and will also speak with my 10th Tanker counterpart asking him to remind the bus drivers to slow down in our housing areas and to have our joint patrols keep an eye out for this behavior.
