Action line #80505 - Leaving the scene Published June 17, 2008 By Anonymous 39th Air Base Wing Public Affairs INCIRLIK AIR BASE, Turkey -- Complaint: This morning as I was returning to building 1084 after PT, I witnessed a TDY female in uniform departing in a GOV car. Due to limited parking on B street, and large GOVs now being authorized to park there, vehicles may be parked with little room in between them. This member backed into an actual residents (permanent party) rental vehicle and proceeded to drive off. The hit was loud enough to be heard from across the street where I stood. No action was taken by the member to check either the GOV or the rental for damage. This is very concerning for those of us with our POVs at this location, as well as the concern of possible damage to government property. Unfortunately I did not get the plate number of the GOV but I believe it is one that is parked outside 1084 each night. In addition, beer cans and bottles are being left around 1084 which is still a permanent residence for those SNCOs close to PCS. With 1084 now being utilizied by permanent party and TDY personnel, there is a problem with ensuring all residents are being held to the same standards and rules. There seems to be a question if all residents are being held accountable for inappropriate and disrespectful actions, even if only here on a temporary basis. Thank you. Response: Thank you for bringing the accident to our attention. Our Security Forces personnel will continue to patrol around Bldg. #1084 to examine vehicles that may have been involved in the accident. Once we identify the owner/operator of the vehicle(s) we will take appropriate action. Security Forces is also working diligently with Civil Engineering to have the posted signs removed from Bldg #1084 preventing GOVs from parking there. This should be accomplished within the next day or two if not already done. As for the beer cans and bottles and other "standards and rules" you mention, rules governing open containers of alcohol in public areas, littering, and other topics apply to all, TDY and permanent party folks alike. I will remind commanders that inappropriate and disrespectful actions will not be tolerated and that they must hold offenders accountable. In the future, please note we encourage witnesses of vehicle accidents and other crimes to immediately contact Security Forces at 676-3200 and properly report the incident.
