Action line #80612-bad milk Published June 30, 2008 By Anonymous 39th Air Base Wing Public Affairs INCIRLIK AIR BASE, Turkey -- Complaint: Sir, I am writing about the past three milk experiences I have purchased in the commissary. The first one when I opened the carton, the milk came out curdled; the second carton only lasted two days after being opened; and the final straw was this morning. My daughter opened the milk I just bought yesterday around 1330. She poured it on her cereal and it was bad. It had an expiration date of 26 June 2008 which is tomorrow but why was it spoiled a day before. I am not buying anymore milk from the commissary until it had been proven that all the milk on the shelves is fresh. Response: I'm sorry about your recent string of bad luck with the milk, but I want to assure you the commissary is very focused on delivering the freshest milk possible. Not to rub it in, but I have never purchased milk that turned out to be bad (I get a couple cartons a week) so I do think you've just had a bad run of luck. We get our milk delivered every Wednesday from a plant in Denmark, and it arrives with a minimum of seven days until the expiration date. In addition, the 39th Medical Group Health Services inspects the milk, as well as other items, for freshness, but sometimes a bad carton slips through. If you come upon another spoiled carton, please take it back to the commissary. They can either refund your money or replace the carton. Also, a manager is on duty every day from 8 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., please let them know, as that enables them to gather data to pass to the supplier. Without timely feedback the manager cannot make things right.
