Complaint:

I notice on the Commander's Access Channel that the waiting list for the Enrichment program at Child Development Center has been reset. I previously had my daughter's name on the list.

I found this unfair as many people have been waiting for a while already. By the CDC resetting its waiting list, it is allowing other families, who have not been waiting as long as I have, to get higher up on the list. I have been waiting since January, hoping to get better educational and social environment for my daughter I believe any program would be beneficial to my daughter, especially since this base does not offer Pre-K.

When I called the CDC to confirm this and find out the reason, the receptionist only knew that resetting list will be enforced on June 16.

I would like to know why this is and am hoping someone will reconsider it for the future.

Response:

Thanks for bringing this issue to my attention, you're right and we have changed the waiting list policy. From now on, those on the waiting list will get the opportunity to remain on that list when the school year ends. That way, those who have been waiting a year will not get 'bumped' by those who just PCS'ed in.

If you are one of the folks who got 'bumped' this year, please contact the CDC as soon as possible. They will verify via their records, and re-insert your child into the proper position on the waiting list.

Please remember that the primary mission of the Incirlik CDC is to meet full time child care needs; new PDE Programs are contingent upon staff availability and program need throughout the community. Therefore, it is important to keep the waiting list current. If you decide you no longer are interested in PDE, please inform the CDC to allow them to update the list.

Your continued interest in the program is greatly appreciated.
