Action line 80803 - Spoiled milk

Complaint:

After pouring out another new half-gallon of milk, I decided to write to request that the commissary invest in a refrigerated system that has doors similar to what they use for the ice cream but not frozen. Currently, the milk is only cooled by blowing cold air. I believe that the milk spoils faster because of this method of refrigeration.

Response:

Thanks for the suggestion of new coolers for the milk section. However, our current cooler, 7 years old, is working well. Commissary personnel check the temperatures of all their coolers three times a day to ensure correct performance, and thus far there have been no problems. Additionally, the commissary gets frequent no-notice inspections from Public Health to test the quality of their products. Again, they've passed those with flying colors.

I'm sorry about your string of bad luck with the milk, but I want to assure you the commissary is very focused on delivering the freshest milk possible. If you come upon another spoiled carton, I'd urge you not to pour it down the drain. Please take it back to the commissary. They will refund your money or replace the carton.

Also, please inform the store manager whenever you get a bad carton of milk (a manager is on duty every day from 8 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.). Telling the commissary whenever you have a substandard product allows them to gather data trends for better rating the supplier. Without timely feedback, the manager cannot make a difference.

Again, thanks for the call. This is an important issue, and we are fully engaged!
